As we get closer to the 4th of July, I’ve found myself reflecting on freedom—not just the kind we celebrate with fireworks and cookouts, but the kind that shows up in real life.

The kind that comes from making choices that better fit your season of life.


For many folks I work with, that kind of freedom starts with a move. Whether it’s more space, a simpler lifestyle, or finally owning instead of renting, summer has a way of opening doors—literally and figuratively. And right now, Florida is offering even more reasons to consider making a move. Here’s why summer might just be your season:

Florida’s 2025 Budget Brings Real Estate Wins

Some exciting updates are on the way that could make buying or selling this year even more rewarding:


  • Hometown Heroes Gets a Boost Starting July 1, 2025, Florida is adding $50 million to the Hometown Heroes Housing Program—helping first-time buyers with down payments and closing costs. If you’re a hard-working Floridian thinking about buying, this program is worth a look.


  • $385 Million Going Toward Affordable Housing with major funding headed to down payment assistance (SHIP) and affordable rental development (SAIL), this is great news for both buyers and investors.


  • Big Support for Homeowners $280 million is being added to the My Safe Florida Home Program to help you harden your home and potentially lower insurance costs. That kicks in on July 1, 2025.


  • No More Business Rent Tax if you’re leasing commercial space or investing, here’s a big one: Florida is eliminating the Business Rent Tax as of October 1, 2025—saving businesses across the state real money.


  • Protecting What Makes Florida Special over $1.5 billion is being invested into clean water, flood protection, land restoration, and Everglades preservation. That means healthier land, better property values, and long-term peace of mind.
